Some ten years after the now famed Williams FW26 made its “walrus-nosed” debut in the F1 championship, it has again taken a turn for the bold and new. Not only have the rules required a complete redesign of all engines used, but the look of the cars will also be quite different to look at when compared to the ones from last year.

One of the most visible differences will be the cars’ front wings that are now mandated to be 15 cm (5.9 in) narrower than before. This has led the teams to adopt some odd-looking nose section shapes to get as much downforce out of the narrower span.

First to appear was the Force India VJM07, though the sole photo they’ve released so far of it only shows the side profile and we therefore can’t examine what type of a proboscis it adopts. We can do that, though, for the Ferrari F14 T, the McLaren MP4-29, the Williams FW36, the Sauber C33 and Lotus E22 – official photos of all are posted below.
