Having celebrities promote new cars has been a widespread practice among automakers for decades, but choosing a fictional celebrity to do that is not too common in the auto industry. Dodge is using Ron Burgundy (played by actor Will Ferrell) from Anchorman to promote its Durango SUV in a funny way.

The new ads are part of the buzz for “Anchorman 2, The Legend Continues” movie, which is the sequel to the “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”, which will premiere in the U.S. on December 20

As a person who comes from the 1970s, Ron Burgundy isn’t too familiar with new technology, so he sticks to what he knows best: stating the obvious. He compares the Durango’s 360 horsepower with that of a… real horse and praises the SUV’s glove box as a key feature of the Durango, surprisingly offered as standard equipment!
