Skoda has produced the 1,500,000th second-generation Fabia, a 1.2 TDI model, at the company’s main plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. Launched in 2007, the second-generation Fabia is available in four versions and special models. The B-segment model is available as a hatchback, estate, more rugged Scout version and the sporty RS.
The most economical model of the range is the Fabia GreenLine, which averages 3.4 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km (69.2 mpg US), while CO2 emissions stand at 88 g/km. The Fabia is also available with special editions such as the Fabia Monte Carlo and Fabia Combi Monte Carlo that pay tribute to the brand’s 112-year history in motorsports.
The first generation Skoda Fabia launched in 1999 as the brand’s third new model. 1,788,063 units were produced over a period of eight years. In 2007, Skoda began production of the second generation Fabia, initially as a hatchback and from 2008, as a Combi too. With combined sales of 3,253,817 units between 1999 and August 2013, the Fabia became the brand’s second best-selling model after the Octavia, with 3,984,821 sales.
“Producing 1.5 million vehicles since 2007 is proof of the outstanding development of the Fabia and indicates how well the customers perceive the current generation. In Europe and other international markets, the Fabia is our best-selling model after the Octavia and a cornerstone of our growth,” said Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland.
The third generation Skoda Fabia is expected to arrive next year.
