Renault still makes the competent front-wheel drive Twingo, a car that spawned the hot RenaultSport (RS) model (that is no more), as well as the pretty but not so successful Wind. Now, the latter too has been pulled from production, after a run of just under three years, when they sold not that many at all, as Car&Driver reports.

This makes it a very short-lived model, though one, which is by no means devoid of qualities, as it was always praised for its fun chassis, funky exterior styling and simple yet effective roof mechanism. It may even end up being a future classic, in, say, two decades time when people will have completely forgotten that it ever existed and it will be rediscovered.

The car was built exclusively in Renault’s factory in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, where it shared the production line with the Twingo.

No successor has, obviously, been announced, because, after all, we didn’t get this information from an official source. However, it seems unlikely to get one, as the next Twingo will be a radically different car to the current model, in its layout, drivetrain and styling.

In fact, reports say it won’t even spawn a hot RS model either, and that is even more saddening, since the current Twingo RS was always an appealing package for really getting around crowded cities.
