The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has undergine some changes for the 2014 model year, the main one being the addition of a new 2.0-liter JTDM 2 turbodiesel engine developing 150 horsepower and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.
The new unit is equipped with the second-generation MultiJet injection system and uses a small-sized turbocharger that Alfa Romeo says delivers the highest torque in the segment at low revs – 380 Nm at 1,750 rpm. The engine also uses the third generation Common Rail injection system and complies with the Euro 5+ (Euro 6 ready) standard.
Although they may not be easily spotted, the Giulietta MY2014 also comes with light styling tweaks such as the slightly restyled front grille, chrome-plated frame of fog-lights and new 16-, 17- and 18-inch wheels. The headlights gain LED daytime running lights, with the rear lights also using LED technology. Furthermore, Alfa Romeo offers the Giulietta with three new exterior colors: Moonlight Pearl, Anodizzato Blue and Bronze.
The interior of the Giulietta MY2014 comes with new seats, steering wheel, door panels and handles, and inserts on the center console and dashboard. The Quadrifoglio Verde version gets new sports seats upholstered in black leather/Alcantara with contrasting stitching and electro-welded logo on the backrest (also available on the QV Sportiva Pack).
Alfa Romeo has also renewed the luggage compartment with a specific black trim for the entire volume, while also adding a storage compartment on the left of the steering wheel and an upper glove compartment on the dashboard.
Equipment-wise, the Giulietta MY2014 gets the Uconnect multimedia device, available with a 5- or 6.5-inch touchscreen, which includes satellite navigation system and voice commands.
The refreshed Giulietta will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will arrive in dealerships around Europe starting in October.
