The new i3 and i8 together with the next generation of the X5 and the 4-Series Coupe in both regular and conceptual M4 trims will be the subject of talk at BMW‘s stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the Bavarian manufacturer has more new products in the pipeline.
One of the more interesting upcoming models is the brand-new 4-Series Gran Coupe that our spies snagged having shed a lot of its camouflage compared to previous prototypes, thus revealing its 4-Series Coupe-borrowed front nose, which is lower and slightly more aggressively detailed than that of the 3-Series sedan.
While the Gran Coupe fuses the appearance of the 4-Series Coupe into a four-door body, it won’t ride on the 2,810mm long wheelbase of the 3-Series sedan and Touring, as it will sit on the 3-Series GT’s extended 2,920mm wheelbase for greater rear seat leg and knee room. However, the sportier looking, but lower roofline, will likely reduce rear-seat headroom over the sedan and estate models.
For its motivation, BMW will pick a selection of diesel and gasoline powerplants from the 3-Series range, just as it did with the 4-Series Coupe. Last we heard, an M4 Gran Coupe is being considered, but has not yet received the green light.
