The latest in a long series of limited-edition Veyrons is the “Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Jean-Pierre Wimille”, possibly the supercar with the longest name on sale today…

The very limited edition model (only three units will be made) is the first of six “Bugatti Legends” exclusive editions dedicated to Bugatti heroes who have played a crucial role in the brand’s history. The first Legend model is dedicated to Jean-Pierre Wimille, a two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner with Bugatti (1937 and 1939).

Based on the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, the Jean-Pierre Wimille edition sports a color scheme inspired by Bugatti’s 1937 Le Mans-winning car, the 57G Tank. The 57G Tank had a racing blue finish which now transfers to the Vitesse’s blue clear-coated carbon fiber and light Wimille Bleu paintwork finish. The color scheme continues on the inside, with the materials as well referring to the classic racecar.

Since the Jean-Pierre Wimille is basically a Grand Sport Vitesse, it has the same gigantic 8.0-liter W16 engine delivering 1,200 PS (1,184 hp) and 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.6 seconds and is officially the fastest production roadster in the world, having reached a top speed of 408.84 km/h (254,04 mph) with the top down in April 2013.

The first Bugatti Legend will debut at the U.S. at the Quail/Pebble Beach weekend on August 16-18, with the following five individual editions to arrive within the next twelve months.
