Note: Even though the two children hit by the car in the first video sustained only minor injuries, some viewers may find the scene disturbing

You always have to be careful and follow some basic rules when attempting to cross a road safely, but you should be twice as cautious when you’re responsible for children.

For example, you should never cross a road until you look both directions and make sure that there aren’t any vehicles or motorcycles coming towards you, regardless if you have the right of way.

In the first video, we see wrong way of doing it when having children beside you. The second video, well, the teacher should have moved the children to the zebra crossing, but at least she made sure the car stopped first.

And if you want to refresh your memory or teach your kids about walking across a road, here are the six rules from the “Green Cross Code” from the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, RoSPA:

  1. THINK! Find the safest place to cross, then stop.
  2. STOP! Stand on the pavement near the curb.
  3. USE YOUR EYES AND EARS! Look all around for traffic, and listen.
  4. WAIT UNTIL IT’S SAFE TO CROSS! If traffic is coming, let it pass.
  5. LOOK AND LISTEN! When it’s safe, walk straight across the road.
  6. ARRIVE ALIVE! Keep looking and listening
