All Audi’s cars look pretty much the same, and all drive with pretty much the same road-pounding attitude, and none aside from the R8 offer any real tactile feedback through the steering wheel. There’s also no noticeable gap in quality between any of the models in the range, and therefore the new A3 sedan/saloon is an interesting and cheaper alternative to the A4.
UK magazine Auto Express has done its review on it, and they say it’s easily the best looking of the current A3s, and I think it’s even better proportioned than the next step up.
It’s also lighter and more efficient, and with grippy all-wheel drive, it will get the same surefooted drive as the larger A4. In the hatchback-friendly UK, the hatchback variants of the A3 will be the top sellers, but it will be hard to overlook the saloon when considering buying a small premium sedan.
Keeping the comparison with the A4 going, the booted A3 starts from £24,275 in the UK, making it around £4,000 cheaper that its bigger brother. In the U.S, the new A3 Sedan will go on sales next year as a 2015 model.
