The time for the world premiere of the new Ford Mustang that not only signals one of the biggest changes in the model’s history, but also appropriately coincides with the nameplate’s golden anniversary (50 years), is approaching.

Being that we’re less than a year away from the official presentation, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re seeing a greater number of final prototypes making their appearance on the road, like this camouflaged tester of the S550 codenamed Mustang snagged on film here in the U.S. by the crew over at Mustang6g.

Judging from the deep and throaty exhaust sounds, we’d say this is the V8-powered GT, which is likely to continue with the current model’s 5.0-liter unit, possibly tweaked to deliver a little bit more than the 420hp it does on the fifth generation Mustang.

That’s all we have for now, but as always, we’ll keep an eye out for more and update you as soon as we learn or see anything new.

Thanks to Aaron W. and Mike F. for the video tip!
