You probably remember when we wrote about Mercedes’ decision to offer the illuminated star as a genuine accessory for the new E-Class. Well, it looks like this feature will be offered across the entire range, with the next models to get it being the GL-Class from the model years 2013+, M-Class MY 2012+, E-Class MY 2014+ and CLS MY 2006+.
Available only for models equipped with a centrally positioned star, Mercedes said the star shines when the car is locked and unlocked by remote control and when doors or the luggage compartment are opened.
The option uses light conductor and LED technology to illuminate the central star in the radiator grille. Mercedes-Benz describes the illuminated star as “subtle, but eye-catching” and “bright, but sophisticated.”
