Two of the current coolest fast-estates are solely one-offs, with neither getting the official confirmation for production, despite looking very promising. I am talking about the Aston Martin Jet 2+2 shooting brake and Porsche’s Panamera Sports Turismo concept.
However, since the former was crafted onto the body of a Rapide (in record time), which is a production car, what Bertone has achieved with the Jet is a really nice factory-look to the rear end, which dare I say, is more successful than that of the regular model – with the added bonus of extra headroom.
Detailing the above points, and more, is Autocar’s review of the stylish estate.
I think that more cars like this should be made. There’s just something terribly appealing about them. Two more examples of nice cars turned great by becoming estates are the Mercedes-Benz CLS and Maserati Quattroporte. All models here probably have market potential, but it seems that so far, only the Germans (and Australians/British) are cashing in on it.
