Each type of motorsport has very specific and highly specialized requirements. If it’s Baja-style trophy trucks you’re into, then what you need is a featherweight body, strong tubular spaceframe chassis and suspension with as much travel as you can get, which at first may look like overkill, but it proves its use when doing jumps like the one in the video we’ve posted below.

It was shot at the Silver Lake sand dunes, a place where many gather to test out their off-road contraptions, and get as much airtime as possible.

Sadly for Mike Higgins, the jump really took its toll on his highly-modified Ford truck. He knew the jump was going to go sour right after liftoff, when the truck began to pitch backwards and kept doing so until it hit the ground hard, smashing some of the suspension components and bending the chassis.

The jump was a very impressive one, and Higgins doesn’t seem too angry about breaking his truck, as he was more pleased to have come out alive and unscathed. Scroll down to see it all.
