Drivers on Interstate 90 in the Coeur d’Alene area in Idaho had the fright of their life this past Sunday (April 21, 2013), when a Kia sedan driving erratically was involved in at least five accidents and plenty of near misses with other road-users, some of whom were driven off the highway.
Kon Shiva, the owner of a vehicle tinting shop in Spokane, was an eyewitness to the events and captured footage of the Kia driver as he was swinging on the road before he smashed into a blue Honda Civic and abandoned the scene with the cops right on his tail.
“We saw some clouds of dust, and then came to the conclusion that the driving was not usual. We were blown away by it,” Shiva told the CDAPress. “It was an adrenaline rush and we were also on the phone with (law enforcement).”
Police officers eventually caught up and apprehended the driver, who was identified as Glenn M. McNutt […]. The 50-year-old driver of the 2006 Kia was charged for DUI, aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle with no insurance.
According to the police report, McNutt was allegedly uncooperative after his vehicle came to a stop.
“He was revving the car and ready to go,” said Coeur d’Alene Police spokeswoman Christie Wood, who added that the car was so damaged it could not move.
Amazingly, no serious injuries were reported, something that Wood described as “quite remarkable.” It’s worth mentioning that the driver of the blue Civic, Lindsey McCuaig, was pregnant, but fortunately, wasn’t harmed.
The CDAPress reported that McNutt “has eight previous bookings in the Kootenai County jail – all DUI-related – from 2006 to 2011”, which if true, makes you wonder how and why he is still allowed to drive…
