The latest geek craze, or shall we say, one of the many latest geek crazes to hit the tech world is the Google Glass, the first examples of which started landing in the hands of their enthralled owners, who lost no time tinkering around and posting all sorts of videos, including one that we believe will capture the attention of our gearhead community.
More specifically, YouTube author Matt Abdou shared a video of himself driving a go-kart racer in Burlingame, California. What makes this clip interesting aren’t his driving skills but the fact that it was recorded with Abdou‘s new set of Google Glass, the first version of which is named “Explored Edition”.
We’re told by Google that the Glass comes fitted with a 640 x 360 display that is the “equivalent of a 25-inch high-definition screen from eight feet away,” 12 GB of usable memory synced with Google cloud storage for a 16 GB Flash total, and a 5MP camera that can also shoot 720p video. Google says the battery in the Glass lasts “one full day of typical use,” noting, however, that “some features, like Hangouts and video recording, are more battery intensive”.
We guess we’ll be seeing and hearing more about the Google Glass in the coming months, but for now, you can check out the go-kart clip along with an unboxing video, right below the break.
