The BMW Museum, located in Munich, is the place to go for all car enthusiasts who find themselves in Bavaria and are in need of something automotive-related to visit. It is a modern building, filled with historic BMWs, concepts and various other displays related to the company.
Now, they have announced the public opening of the first-ever Rolls-Royce exhibition, which runs from March 21 until the end of March, 2014.
The exhibition was put together, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of the company’s founders, Sir Henry Royce, but the fact that it does not have its own special venue location, and is located in Germany just feels a bit wrong to us.
Nevertheless, geographical inaccuracies aside, there is quite a bit to see, as there are 15 Rollers for visitors to feast their eyes on, cars which date from 1907 to 2012. The standout piece is a 1926 10EX, which was engineered, built and then driven by Sir Henry Royce as a performance demonstrator for “the new Phantom”.
Rolls-Royce CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, justified the decision to house the exhibition at the BMW Museum, by saying that, aside from the 150th anniversary of Sir Royce, it is also the tenth anniversary of “the renaissance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars under BMW Group ownership.” Well, sure, but what about the other 140 years?
