Finding a low mileage BMW M3 E92 Coupe is a walk at the park (or at your local dealer, if you want to be precise…); an E46 generation model (2001-2006), not so much, but still doable.
Basically, the further back you go in time, the harder it gets, and while stumbling upon an unmolested E36 generation M3 (1992-1999) is considerably easier than finding an E30 (1985-1992) as the latter was produced in much smaller numbers, it’s a one in a million chance to discover such a low mileage example as we did on Autotrader.
It’s an all original, 1999 M3 Coupe E36 with only 3,008 miles (4,834 kilometers) on the odometer! The only thing more impressive than the mileage is the Astoria, New York-based seller’s asking price of $50,000 (equal to €38,290).
One thing you should know about the M3 E36 is that in the U.S., it was offered with different engines than what the rest of the world , starting with a 325i-sourced inline six bored to 3.0-liters producing 240hp, which was later on replaced with a 3.2-liter straight six with the same output but a higher torque figure of 240 lb-ft (325Nm).
By comparison, the European-specification M3 E36 began life with a 3.0-liter S50 straight-six rated for 282hp, and ended production with a 3.2-liter unit producing 316hp (321PS).
