The wait for the new Range Rover Sport is almost over, which is why the British firm’s engineers have peeled a few more layers of camouflage from one of their latest prototypes, seen here testing in its natural habitat (at least in theory) close to the Arctic Circle.

Like the model it replaces, the new Range Rover Sport is an offspring of the bigger and boxier Range Rover. With the second generation model, Land Rover wants to increase the visual distance between the two SUVs.

You can take a look at our artist’s impression of the new Range Rover Sport here, but in a nutshell, the front end will receive a more aggressive treatment with sleeker lights and grille, that will work together with a more sharply raked roofline, shorter rear overhang, and a new rear end.

Previous pictures and videos of the interior suggest that the two models will share the same dashboard with some minor changes such as the three-spoke steering wheel and trim appliques.

The same will apply with the engine range with the Sport offered with a selection of V6 and V8 turbo diesels and supercharged V8 petrols.
