Almost three years after the launch of the regular DS3 hatchback, Citroën is enhancing its UK range with a Cabrio model that was originally presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
In Britain, the DS3 Cabrio is offered in three trim flavors, each with a different engine, priced from £15,045 to £19,675 OTR.
As you can see in the pictures for yourself, the DS3 Cabrio isn’t a real convertible model, as it sports an electrically operated canvas top while at the same time keeping the hatchback’s metal roof arches.
The top can be fully opened or closed at a touch of a button at speeds of up to 75mph (121 km/h) in three positions – intermediate, horizontal and total, in 16 seconds.
There are three Euro V petrol engine options, the VTi 82PS (81bhp), VTi 120PS (118bhp) and THP 155PS (153bhp), with the two first linked to a five-speed manual gearbox and the last to a 6-speed manual transmission.
In Citroen’s own words, “The ‘B2’ [supermini] convertible market is dominated by female buyers and DS3 Cabrio’s customer profile will largely reflect existing demand with owners typically aged 35+ with a strong female bias.”
The French carmaker added that it is also targeting buyers “‘young at heart’ with older, more independent children at home” as well as young couples and single people, both male and female.
