There’s really no point in trying to hide the styling elements of the new generation of the Skoda Octavia Combi since the liftback version has already been formally introduced and we’ve even seen the station wagon without camouflage (albeit from a distance), however, the Czech carmaker continues to circulate lightly masked prototypes like this one, nabbed earlier in the week.
Not that the Octavia saloon is revolutionary in its design, but you’ll probably have a more difficult time telling the Combi apart from the current model as Skoda kept the same roofline and window design, sans the small kink on the luggage compartment area.
Naturally, the Combi will share the same engine range with the Octavia Mk3 saloon offering European buyers a selection of diesel and petrol units, including a 1.4-liter TSI petrol producing 120hp (122PS), a 1.8-liter TSI petrol with 177hp (180PS) and a 1.6-liter TDI rated at 109hp (110PS).
Later on, Skoda will enhance the lineup with a performance RS (vRS in Britain) model sporting a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol with more than 200-horsepower.
When it goes on sale this year, the Combi will be offered with manual and DSG transmissions, as well as the option of all-wheel-drive on select engines.
