The spanking new Audi RS7 Sportback is one of our favorite cars from the ongoing Detroit Auto Show.

With a sleek-looking body and a masculine 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out more than 550-horses to all four wheels, what’s not to like? Well, you could say its price tag, which will certainly be more than the $78,800 Audi commands for the 420hp S7 Sportback, but that’s another story.

Now, with Audi having completed the range of models of its A7 series, there’s nothing left for creative minds to do, right? Well, not according to the crew from the Belgian website Autofans, who wanted to give the RS7 a racing appearance. And what a better way to do so than to give it a look that mimics the legendary Audi Quattro S1 Group B racer?

Pieter Aertgeerts from Autofans explained the idea to us in an email:

“Monte Carlo. Tour de Corse. The eighties. Superchargers and turbochargers. Crowded spectators, way too dangerous races and the most powerful rally cars ever made. Group B is no more, sadly, but it’s not forgotten at all. After looking at the quiet vulgar Audi RS7, we were inspired to make a Group B Tribute.”
