Automakers continue to announce global vehicle debuts for the North American International Auto Show. The latest news comes from Nissan that confirmed the premiere of its brand new, Ford Fiesta-rivaling, 2014 Versa Note.

The five-door, subcompact hatchback will share its nameplate with the Versa sedan, but the two models will differ in appearance as well a pricing with the former being a more expensive proposal, according to insiders.

Nissan accompanied the release with a single cropped image of the Versa Note’s rear end, which looks identical to that of the brand’s new global subcompact car, the Note, unveiled in Japan in July last year.

While all evidence points to the two cars being one and the same, we’ll have to wait until Monday to find out for sure.
