There’s a very good reason why Jackie Stewart named the “old” Nürburgring the Green Hell and why Formula 1 doesn’t race there any more: it’s too bloody dangerous.

Still, the Nordschleife track hosts other race series up to this day and is the place where manufacturers hone their latest cars and advertise their lap times, while on certain dates, it is also open to the public. This means that anyone can pay the ticket and drive around the 20.8 km (12.9-mile) circuit.

By anyone, we mean literally anyone, no matter what he drives or rides. This means you see VW Golf MK2s and Opel Tigras mixing it up with Porsches and Ferraris – and BMW, lots of them…

That’s the good part. The bad part is that the ‘Ring simply does not forgive errors. Misjudging one of its 154 turns and, in the best-case scenario, you’ll end up in the Armco with your car with your ego bruised.

You can watch some of the drivers and riders that experienced the Nürburgring the hard way during 2012 in the video right after the jump. Even though the ‘Ring has an appetite for destruction, no one appears to be hurt; not even the two bikers who lost it at the same corner and, miraculously, weren’t hit by any of the cars that were following them.
