It’s possible that the driver of this Dodge Charger failed to see as far as the that incoming Ford pickup when he pulled ahead. They had another vehicle to their left, and at that point, the Ford was in the lane furthest away.

From what we can gather, the pickup seems to have had the right of way and its driver had little reason to anticipate somebody entering the intersection the way that Dodge did.

The impact, inevitable at that point, sent the Charger spinning towards oncoming traffic, knocking over a street sign and resting against the sidewalk. A pedestrian can also be seen crossing the street right before the crash, and we hope that she wasn’t hit by any of the flying debris.

Unfortunately, the dashcam vehicle was also hit in the process, but by the pickup, which clearly had a lot of difficulty slowing down. The cammer might have already been having a bad day, since he started saying something to that extent right before the video cut off.

We should also entertain the possibility that the Charger driver simply felt the need to blindly follow the car ahead into crossing the intersection. People sometimes make that type of mistake – they see somebody pull out ahead, and figure that maybe they have time/room to do so as well.
