Kia has announced pricing details of the new range-topping Picanto that is powered by the company’s 1.0-liter T-GDI turbo engine.

The new Picanto 1.0 T-GDI packs 99hp and 126lb-ft (176Nm) of torque from just 1,500rpm, making it the most powerful version of Kia’s small city car ever. Paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, the Picanto can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 9.8 seconds (0-100km/h in 10.1) and hit 112mph (180km/h) flat out.

The new three-cylinder turbo engine also features direct injection and is compliant with the latest Euro 6d emission regulations. CO2 emissions are rated at 117g/km, while fuel economy is a combined 55.4 mpg UK (5.1 lt/100 km, 46.1 mpg US).

The new engine will be available exclusively on Picanto GT-Line and GT-Line S models, which feature sporty bumpers with big air intakes and red detailing for the front grille along with deeper side sills. The rear end sports a diffuser and twin exhaust tailpipes, while the exterior look is completed with 16-inch alloy wheels.

Equipment levels are pretty generous, with the list featuring bi-function projector headlights with LED DRLs and LED taillights, black and red faux leather upholstery, stainless steel pedals, satin chrome interior door handles, an electric sunroof, heated front seats and steering wheel, automatic climate control, a 7,0-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and wireless charging.

Prices start from £13,320 for the GT-Line trim level of the new Kia Picanto T-GDI, with the GT-Line S model is priced from £14,720.
