Vauxhall announced the pricing details of the new Corsa GSi, the latest addition to the supermini’s range and the fastest derivative this side of the hot VXR version, which will stop being offered.
Prices for the new Corsa GSi start from £18,995 OTR, with the first examples set to arrive in UK dealerships this September.
The warm derivative of the Corsa is powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol engine that makes 147hp (150PS) and 162lb-ft (220Nm) of peak torque between 2,750 and 4,500rpm. Paired to it is a six-speed manual gearbox, which is the only option.
Performance is best described as frisky, with the 0-62mph (100km/h) taking 8.9 seconds and the top speed being 129mph (207km/h).
However, Vauxhall promises a genuine fun-to-drive character, thanks to the adoption of the Corsa VXR chassis (that’s the OPC version in you live in mainland Europe). That includes things like the springs, dampers and big brakes while the suspension also features the same geometry.
In addition, customers will be offered the GSi Plus Pack as a £1,900 option, consisting of a set of 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, Recaro bucket seats and bi-xenon headlights.
Apart from the wheels, the exterior of the Corsa GSi gets larger air intakes, a different grille and deeper side skirts from the VXR model, as well as a rear spoiler.
