You can never have too much of a good thing, so while Mazda never proceeded with last year’s supercharged MX-5 Super20, the concept lives on in a slightly different form as the MX-5 Super25 that made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show this week.
The Japanese carmaker tells us that the new study was “crafted with endurance racing in mind”.
Besides the new red and gray paint scheme and the “55” racing number on the doors, the Super25 is outfitted with a host of racing-inspired exterior and interior features.
On the outside, the race-prepped concept gets a customized four-lamp lighting pod implanted just above the modified grille as well as a new set of 17-inch Volk Racing T37 six-spoke matte black wheels suited in BFGoodrich g-Force R 225-45ZR17 tires.
The interior drops the passenger seat and gains a Sparco Evo racing seat with a six-point racing harness for the driver, along with a Sparco R323 competition steering wheel, an AiM MXL data acquisition logger custom-fitted into the dash and a full roll cage.
