About a month before the regular and hybrid variants of the new 2013 Avalon series arrive in dealerships across the States at the beginning of December, Toyota released detailed pricing info for the two models.
The new Avalon will begin at a lower price point than the car it replaces at $30,990 for the base gasoline model, rising to $41,400 for the hybrid variant in top-spec trim. Keep in mind that these prices do not include a delivery, processing and handling (DPH*) fee of $795.
By comparison, the outgoing Avalon, starts at $33,195, excluding DPH.
The Avalon V6 model is powered by a 268-hp, 3.5–liter unit connected to a 6-speed automatic and returns a combined EPA-rating of 25 mpg, 21 city mpg, and 31 mpg highway.
The first ever Avalon Hybrid gets the same powertrain as the Toyota Camry and Lexus ES300h hybrids. It combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle, four-cylinder engine, an electronic CVT that contains two electric motors, and a 244.8 volt battery that help produce an overall system output of 200-horses, and an an EPA-rated fuel economy of 40 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and a combined 40 mpg.
There are four trim levels named XLE, XLE Premium, XLE Touring and Limited. You can find details on the standard features provided in each grade in the list that follows below.
