Adding to the long list of retro-style packages offered for the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro since the car’s launch in 2009 is a new kit from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE), cosmetically inspired by the 1969 model.
The Decatur, Indiana-based tuner of all things related to General Motors has named the package “Retrokit” and it offers it in two basic flavors, the RS and non-RS, with the only difference being that the RS gets hideaway headlamps.
“Many Camaro fans were disappointed when the design of the fifth gen Camaro didn’t look as much as the ’69 Camaro as, say, the new Mustang looked like the original,” said LPE founder Ken Lingenfelter. “With our Retrokits package, enthusiasts can have the best of both worlds – the technology of today paired with the muscle car styling of the past.”
In detail, this is what is included in the two Retrokit packages:
The non-RS system includes:
– Front fascia
– Lower spoiler
– Standard chrome bumper
– Grille assembly with SS badge
– Two headlight assemblies
– Two lower running light assemblies
– All required mounting brackets
– Wiring harness assembly
The RS system includes:
– Front fascia
– Lower spoiler
– Standard chrome bumper
– Grille assembly with SS badge
– Two headlight assemblies with doors and motors
– Two lower running light assemblies
– All required mounting brackets
– Wiring harness assembly
If you are willing to do the work by yourself, including painting, the non-RS system can be had for $6,850 and the RS for $8,150, while those who prefer to have LPE install and paint the kit, will pay $8,550 for the non-RS and $9,750 for the RS packages.
