General Motors is increasing its efforts to offer more diverse personalization options in the small car segments with the introduction of the new Sonic Dusk at next week’s 2012 SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas.
The Sonic Dusk was first displayed in concept guise at last year’s SEMA as a “more subtle and sophisticated” alternative to tuning, and now, the automaker has made the decision to offer the package on the production model.
“Just like we’ve done with Corvettes and Camaros, we’re taking another one of our core products and adapting it to our customers’ lifestyles,” explained Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing.
“The reaction to the Sonic Dusk concept last year was overwhelmingly positive and proved customers are interested in a more-refined subcompact. We’re moving quickly to bring Sonic Dusk to Chevrolet showrooms,” he added.
The production Sonic Dusk comes fitted with a ground effects package, a rear spoiler, 18-inch aluminum wheels in a Pearl Nickel shade, and stainless steel lower window moldings, while the upper and lower grilles, door handle inserts and rear license plate trim are finished with a matte appearance
The customized look continues inside through the Jet Black leather-trimmed seats with suede accents and Mojave tan inserts and accent stitching, while the same two colors are also used on the door panels, dashboard and the manual gearbox lever. The car is also equipped with Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system.
The SEMA show vehicle is powered by GM’s 138hp, 1.4-liter Ecotec turbochareged petrol engine, with the production model offering the choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
