The car hiding behind that face with a human-like expression and eyebrow accents is Smart’s newest concept model, which made its world premiere at the 2012 Paris Salon.
Smart tells us that it named the concept study Forstars as a reference to the glass dome above the passengers that “gives a clear view of the starry sky“. The oddities continue with a video projector located in the front bonnet scoop that allows users to turn any wall into their own private drive-in theater.
The electrically driven prototype is described by Smart as an SUC (Sports Utility Coupé) with room for two people and their luggage.
It measures 3,550 mm long, 1,710 mm wide and 1,505 mm high (139.8 / 67.3 / 59.2 inches respectively ), with power coming from an electric motor positioned on the rear axle that is fed by a 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The importance of this concept is that it displays the design language of the next generation of Smart models including the classic ForTwo and the brand’s second attempt at a larger five-door model after the failed ForFour, as well as a proposal for an additional body style.
