If these spy shots are anything to go by, then in addition to the new Clio RS 200 with around 200hp under its hood, Renault is also prepping a “lite” version to fill the gap in the range between the regular models and the RS flagship.

The prototype model entering the Renault facility in Germany featured a restyled front bumper with a larger lower air-intake in a different design than the one seen on the Clio RS test car, along with a new set of wheels, light grey colored mirror caps, a rear diffuser, and an extended roof spoiler.

Furthermore, whereas the Clio RS has one large exhaust pipe on both ends of the rear diffuser, this prototype came fitted with dual tailpipes on one side.

Mystery surrounds the engine choice, but two options that come to mind are a de-tuned version of the Clio RS’ 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine or a tweaked version of the 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol, both with around 140 to 150 horses.

We also don’t know for sure what name Renault plans to use on the car, but we suspect a GT badge or a Gordini moniker (in which case, the car would be offered in the sub-brand’s traditional electric blue hue with contrast white racing stripes) are strong candidates.
