The ever-expanding lineup of the Volkswagen Beetle gains two more engine derivatives in Britain.
This time, the German carmaker has added a 1.2-litre TSI petrol delivering 104HP / 105 PS connected to a six-speed manual gearbox (joining the DSG version of the same powerplant) and the 1.6-litre TDI diesel 104HP / 105 PS with BlueMotion Technology, which is offered with either a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmissions.
The two new entry-level models are offered in the base ‘Beetle’ or ‘Design’ trims.
The petrol version starts at £15,195 (RRP OTR), which is £1,405 less than the current starting point for the range (for the same 1.2-litre engine but with a DSG gearbox), while at £17,030, the 1.6-litre TDI costs more than £3,000 less than the previous threshold for diesel-powered Beetle ownership.
Both models are available to order from the brand’s retailers from today with first customer deliveries to take place in January of 2013.
