The compact sedan we first came to know as the new Sylphy for Asia before Nissan told us that it will be named Sentra in North America, will be marketed as the new Pulsar in Australia, where it will debut at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney from October 19 to 28.

The name was used in Australia for the local-market versions of the Nissan Sunny and Almera-based models up until 2005 when it was replaced by the Tiida. The Japanese automaker has not revealed any other details about the Pulsar (which does not differ from the Sylphy and Sentra in appearance) but it will likely be offered with a four-cylinder gasoline engine.

The Pulsar compact sedan will be joined in Sydney by the 2013 Patrol that will make its Australian debut in right-hand drive form ahead of its on-sale date early next year. The new Patrol full-size SUV is a sister model to the North American market Infiniti QX.

“Next year will be one of the biggest years for Nissan Australia in recent times, with the launch of the 2013 Pulsar and Patrol, as well as updates on other key models,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director.

“Nissan will display a comprehensive range of its latest and future models at the Motor Show and visitors will also be able to learn more about its newest motorsport involvement prior to it entering the V8 Supercars Championship in 2013 as a third manufacturer,” he added.
