The refreshed for the 2013 model year Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV with enhancements to its drivetrain, exterior and interior styling and comfort and safety technologies is now available for order in Britain.
The German automaker offers two variants of the G-Class in the UK, the entry level G350 BlueTEC priced from £82,945 OTR and the range topping G63 AMG from £123,115 OTR.
The V8-powered G500 and G500 Cabriolet and the V12-powered G65 AMG will not be officially sold in the UK.
The G350 BlueTEC features a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel producing 1hp more at 208hp (211PS) and the same peak torque at 540Nm (398 lb-ft) as well as identical fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as the model it replaces at 25.2 mpg UK and 295 g/km respectively.
Standard features for the base G-Class include new LED daytime running lights, a COMAND Online system, the audio and visual parking aid Parktronic, new leather upholstery in conjunction with heated front and rear seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric folding and heated mirrors, instrument cluster with colour display and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound audio system.
The new G63 AMG that replaces the G55 AMG sports a new bi-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 AMG engine with a standard star/stop system delivering 536hp (544PS) and 760Nm (560 lb-ft).
Despite an improvement of 37hp and 60 Nm over the outgoing G55 AMG’s V8, the new force-fed unit sees combined CO2 emissions reduced by 13 percent to 322 g/km and combined fuel consumption improved by 15 percent to 20.5 mpg UK
Among other features that distinguish the AMG model from the rest of the G-Class range is a unique grille, wheel arch extensions making room for 20-inch alloys shod in chunkier rubber, chromed twin tailpipes, a single-tone designo leather interior trim, stainless steel illuminated door sill panels and an uprated COMAND Online with Media Interface and DAB radio.
Furthermore, the G 63 AMG comes with the Chrome Package and Exterior Styling Package as standard – as opposed to being optional on the G 350 BlueTEC at £765 and £1,515 respectively.
