In a story that’s becoming all too common these days, a Mississippi driver was captured on camera speeding on the opposite side of a highway for several miles before the inevitable happened colliding head on with an oncoming Ford SUV.
The accident took place last week on July 8, on Highway 49 in Collins, Mississippi, and was filmed by a driver traveling on the opposite lane. The wrong-way driver was identified as Edward Fairley of Mount Olive.
Despite the severity of the crash, the driver of the Ford SUV Amy Cox of Waveland and a young female passenger walked away unscathed while Fairley was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries including a broken shoulder, KCTV reported.
Collins police chief Ronnie Dickinson told reporters that wrong way drivers are an alarmingly common sight. “Unfortunately, we see that all the time. It’s not just the state of Mississippi, it’s all over,” Dickinson said.
You can watch the video of the crash as filmed by an oncoming driver (who should better focus on driving instead of filming next time if he doesn’t want to make the news…) right below the break.
