One of the stars of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is the new Aston Martin Vanquish, which not only made its first public outing but also gave spectators a taste of what it is capable of by driving up the famous hill climb.

Designed to replace the DBS built from 2007 to 2012, the new Vanquish ushers in Aston Martin’s latest VH platform.

The aluminum structure is dressed in an all-carbonfibre body with power coming from a tweaked 5.9-liter V12 that churns out 565hp (573PS) at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 620Nm (457 lb-ft) at 5,500 rpm coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Aston Martin says the new Vanquish passes the 62mph (100km/h) yardstick in 4.1 seconds after take-off and can reach a maximum speed of 295km/h (183mph).

Joining the Vanquish at Goodwood were several other Aston Martins including the limited run V12 Zagato and the Le Mans podium-placed Vantage GTE racecar.
