It’s no secret that there’s a modern BMW sports coupe coming to a dealership near you within the next two years in the form of the brand-new i8 hybrid.

Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped Aldo Schurmann, a transportation design student at the IAAD (Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design) in Turin, Italy, from imagining a more direct, but perhaps too similar in appearance, rival to the Audi R8.

Schurmann’s concept study is named the X Roadster and from what we can tell by looking at the pictures since the project has not been detailed, it was designed as a mid-engine, two-seater sports car.
