Audi was among the first to enter the market for subcompact luxury crossovers when it launched the Q3 back in 2011. But seven years later, it’s still producing that same one to compete with rivals that are – with few exceptions – all fresher models.
Fortunately Ingolstadt has an all-new Q3 in the works, and it’s set to lift the veil off the finished product on Wednesday. But before it does, Audi has released this short teaser video to give us a glimpse at what’s in store.
Now this is hardly the first look we’ve had at the forthcoming new model. Some of the pre-production prototypes we’ve seen undergoing testing have been almost completely bereft of camouflage. But they’ve still hidden some of the details revealed in this teaser clip – like the aggressive and suitably modern headlights that have been making their way across the Four-Ringed lineup.
Add to the fresh styling all the technological improvements that automakers like Audi have developed over the course of the past seven years and the new Q3 will undoubtedly be a far more competitive player in the increasingly vital market for luxury subcompacts. And it couldn’t arrive a moment too soon to take on its fresher rivals.
The BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Volvo XC40, Jaguar E-Pace, Cadillac XT4, Lexus UX, and Infiniti QX30 were all introduced (in their latest iterations) more recently than the long-serving, first-generation Audi Q3 that will finally be put to pasture after it’s relieved by the second-generation model’s debut in full in just two days from now.
