Have you been wondering what the new BMW X4 M looks like? Well, wonder no more, because an image taken from inside the Bavarian carmaker’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina where the X4 is produced, (likely) answers the question.
Posted by Mexican publication AutoCosmos, it shows the entire rear end of the car that sports wider fenders, new bumper with integrated diffuser and quad exhaust pipes, and the mandatory ‘M’ badge sitting on the tailgate, as a continuation of the ‘X4’ logo.
Zoom in and notice the M-specific side mirrors and larger alloy wheels with even more M branding. And while we cannot see the front end of the high-performance Sports Activity Coupe (SAC), recent spy shots and videos revealed the M-style kidney grille and a new bumper with larger air intakes, at a first glance at least.

Inside, while we don’t have the scoop yet, expect body-hugging front seats with additional side support, more ‘M’ badging and trim updates. Elsewhere, the BMW X4 M should remain identical to the second-gen X4 on which it is based, bar the modified chassis, improved brakes, stiffened suspension and sharper steering.
Power is expected to come from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which is an evolved version of the unit found in the M3 and M4. It’s been said that it will produce around 460PS (454hp / 338kW), and it will be adopted by the X3 M, too.
BMW hasn’t announced a launch date for the X4 M yet, but it could be released before the end of the year.
