One does not need a degree in Physics to realize that a semi truck needs a significantly longer distance than a passenger car to come to a halt.

As a rule of thumb, don’t brake hard when you see a truck in your rear-view mirror because chances are, this won’t end well for you. At the same time, truck drivers should always look ahead on the road and be prepared to start slowing down and braking in advance.

Now, the person driving the dark Ford Fusion in the following dashcam video didn’t seem to be aware of the fact that there was a semi truck behind them — either that or they simply thought the heavy hauler would have enough time and space to brake.

Whatever the reasoning behind their behavior, it was a flawed one. The driver of the truck with the dashcam was taken by surprise by the sudden deceleration of the Ford sedan and crashed into it.

The Fusion driver wanted to exit the highway but was undecided whether to get in the back of the line or speculate a gap to cut in front of other cars waiting in line. In the end, the truck gave them no choice and forcefully sent the sedan into the back of another truck.

One could also argue that the person behind the wheel of the truck wasn’t driving defensively (the hesitating behavior of the Fusion should have rung some alarm bells) and could have got on the brakes a lot earlier.

The dashcam video was originally posted by the truck driver on his channel called “Angry Trucker” but for some reason he later removed it. According to the camera’s date displayed on the screen, it’s from December 12, 2016. Someone reposted it recently so you can watch it and give your verdict.
