Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has revealed that the Model S, 3, and X (get it?) will soon all receive a so-called ‘Party & Camper mode’ to make the vehicles that little more versatile when parked.
On Twitter, Musk said that the ‘Party & Camper mode’ will allow the battery pack to keep air flow on alongside selective lights, music and power outlets for 48 hours of more. Such a feature could be seen as gimmicky but it could prove useful for Tesla owners who enjoy taking long road trips and may require long rest periods but still want some creature comforts.
If you own a Tesla and ever need to sleep in your car, the new mode would allow you to sleep with sweet lullabies playing all night long.
We’re adding a “party & camper mode” soon to S/3/X, so your car can maintain air flow, temp, selective lights, music & power devices for 48 hours or more while parked. Big batteries rock …

Thanks to the over-the-air updates available across the Tesla range, implementing the new software will be easy for the electric automaker.
Nevertheless, there will inevitably be some who will question the timing of the Party & Camper mode considering all the more important things already on Tesla’s plate, like ramping up Model 3 production to the figures promised.
However you look at it, it’s hard to argue with all the positives that result from over-the-air updates and it’s little wonder why Tesla owners love them so much. Not only do they allow the car manufacturer to seamlessly roll out new features but they can also be useful when it comes to introducing important software tweaks, like those created to improve braking on the Model 3.
