In a not so far, far away land called New York City, a man impersonating Darth Vader with a heavy-breathing Brooklyn accent was captured on film last month quibbling with a traffic cop over a parking ticket that he had received while promoting interest in Star Wars during a 5th Avenue Street fair in Brooklyn.
However, the traffic trooper completely snubbed Darth Vader…
The man behind the mask turned out to be Ron Larse, a 51-year-old Star Wars enthusiast from the 501st Legion, which is “ an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate.”
We don’t know if he appeared in court in full costume nor if he used his powers, but according to a report from the Gothamist, the Jedi Knight was able to pursuade a NY judge to dismiss his parking ticket last week.
