Volkswagen continues to drop teasers of its upcoming upcoming T-Cross small SUV, with the latest one focusing on practicality.
Slotting under the T-Roc in VW’s range, and pitted against other subcompact SUVs such as the Renault Captur, Nissan Juke, Opel/Vauxhall Mokka X and Peugeot 2008, the T-Cross has 385lt (13.6cu-ft) of boot space.
Thanks to the adjustable rear seat, however, which slides back and forth, the luggage compartment can be increased to 455lt (16.1cu-ft). Folding the rear backseat down creates a flat loading area and up to 1,281lt (45.2cu-ft) of space, which should be more than enough for users; plus, if necessary, the front passenger seat can be folded, too.

The elevated seating position of 597mm (23.5in) at the front and 651mm (25.6in) at the rear gives occupants a clear view of the road ahead.
Billed as “one of the safest cars in its class”, the T-Cross rides on the MQB platform, which allows it to adopt a wide number of engines from the Volkswagen Group. These will likely include at least three different petrol units, with 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 liters in displacement, and 1.6- and 2.0-liter diesels.
The Volkswagen T-Cross will be officially presented to the public this fall at a standalone event, as the company chose not to attend the Paris Auto Show in early October. It will then launch in selected markets next spring.
