2019 Nissan Sentra Gains New Tech And An SV Special Edition

The Nissan Altima is all-new for 2019, but its smaller stablemate is getting some updates for the new model year.

Currently arriving at dealerships, the 2019 Sentra starts at $17,790 which is an $1,100 increase over last year’s model. Despite the sizable price increase, the model carries over and continues to feature 16-inch steel wheels, a four-speaker audio system and Bluetooth connectivity. Other niceties include air conditioning, power windows / locks and cruise control.

Bigger chances occur on the Sentra SV which starts at $19,090. The model now comes standard with a 7.0-inch NissanConnect infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

The model can also be equipped with a new SV Special Edition Package which adds a moonroof, rear disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels. The package also includes illuminated vanity mirrors, an overhead LED light and an assortment of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

The Sentra SR starts $20,590 and the car comes with a sporty body kit that includes unique side skirts and rear spoiler. Other styling changes include LED headlights, a chromed exhaust tip and special 17-inch alloy wheels.

Like all the aforementioned models, the car is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 124 hp (92 kW / 125 PS) and 125 lb-ft (169 Nm) of torque. Buyers looking for something more powerful can upgrade to the $22,570 Sentra SR Turbo which features a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder developing 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.

People who want something more luxurious and don’t need the extra power can opt for the Sentra SL. The model starts at $23,020 and comes nicely equipped leather upholstery, heated front seats and a 6-way power driver’s seat. Other highlights include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a moonroof, HomeLink and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.

The Sentra NISMO returns to the lineup and it starts at $25,840. The model features unique styling inside and out as well as the aforementioned turbo engine. While most of the changes are cosmetic, the NISMO variant has a sport-tuned suspension, a revised steering system and gripper tires which are mounted on 18-inch alloy wheels.
