Toyota has slapped the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro with a significant price hike from the last time it was offered back in 2017.

Cars Direct has discovered that pricing for the 2019 TRD Pro CrewMax starts at $51,275 including destination. That’s a huge $3870 leap from the entry-level TRD Pro version offered in 2017 which started at $47,405.

This price hike signals Toyota’s aim of marketing the Tundra TRD Pro has a formidable rival to the Ford F-150 Raptor. While pricing details for the 2019 Raptor haven’t been announced, we know that the 2018 model starts at $52,170 for the SuperCab and $55,155 for the SuperCrew.

Beyond the jump in price, another change for the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro is the fact that it will only be sold in CrewMax guise, despite also being sold in smaller Double Cab form for the 2017 model year.

What does the TRD Pro’s Raptor-rivalling price get you? Well, the pickup benefits from the mid-cycle update which was introduced across the Tundra range for 2019. Consequently, it has new headlights and a modified grille.

Elsewhere, the TRD Pro picks up a non-functional scoop on the hood, LED off-road lights, a new front skid plate, exposed front tow hooks, and 18-inch BBS forged aluminum wheels.

In terms of power, the Tundra TRD Pro is outfitted with a 5.7-liter iForce V8 engine delivering 381 hp at 5600 rpm and 401 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. This engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission which generally funnels power to the rear wheels. A part-time four-wheel drive system comes standard, offering 4WD high range and 4WD low range driving modes.
