Asian Markets-Only Nissan Terra SUV Gains 190 PS Diesel Engine

Nissan’s all-new Asia-only SUV, the Terra, has touched down in Thailand, after being unveiled earlier this year.

The off-roader benefits from the addition of a twin-turbo 2.3-liter diesel engine, making 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission, with the automaker claiming that in this version, “it features the best acceleration performance in its class”.

Part of Nissan’s M.O.V.E. 2022 business plan, the Terra is put together in Thailand for Southeast Asia markets, and has a body-on-frame construction, which makes it quite capable off the beaten path. In fact, the automaker took it out on a challenging terrain and managed to impress the journalists invited at the event.

Some of the key features of the Terra are the four-wheel drive mode with electronic locking differential and brake limited slip differential. It gets hill start assist, hill descent control, 360-degree camera system with moving object detection, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and intelligent rear view mirror.

Nissan has also announced the official pricing of the Terra in Thailand, which kicks off from THB 1,316,000 ($39,543/€34,764) in two-wheel drive, with the aforementioned automatic gearbox. The most affordable AWD model costs at least THB 1,427,000 ($42,878/€37,696).

The 7-seat off-roader is also available in China, where it’s being sold by the Dongfeng Nissan and Zhengzhou Nissan dealership with a single engine option, a 2.5-liter mill from the Navara.
