MG has updated the MG3 supermini for the 2018 model year in the UK, outfitting it with a plethora of styling changes and offering with a seven year/80,000 mile (128,000 km) warranty.
The front-end has received the most obvious modifications. A grille inspired by the ZS crossover is present, there’s a pair of redesigned headlights and a new bumper with aggressive air intakes and sharp edges.
The automaker has also fitted a new rear bumper, 16-inch alloy wheels, color contrasting wing mirrors, a selection of roof and bodywork graphic packs and six exterior paint colors.
Updates for the MG3 continue in the cabin, where an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is now standard on the Excite and Exclusive variants. This unit is also featured on the ZS but, for some reason, navigation isn’t available. Fortunately, Apple CarPlay is standard, but Android Auto hasn’t been included. Rounding out the updates is the same multifunction steering wheel as the ZS.
Mechanically, the car remains largely the same as the pre-facelift model. This means that the sole powertrain available is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol unit delivering 105 hp and 137 Nm of torque. Coupled to this engine is a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels. Officially, the MG3 will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 10.4 seconds and a top speed of 108 mph (173 km/h).
Pricing in the UK starts at £9,495 ($12,111) for the entry-level Explore version. Customers can also opt for the £11,395 ($14,535) Excite model complete with 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, updated side skirts, the aforementioned infotainment system, and some other features. Topping out the range is the MG MG3 Exclusive, priced from £12,795 ($16,321).
