Not only is Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd (GAC) preparing for an imminent launch in the United States, but it will soon land in European market, too.
In a recent statement, GAC confirmed that it will be present at the Paris Auto Show in early October and shall unveil a new model dubbed the A10. It remains to be seen what kind of vehicle it will be, but rumors talk about a premium model rather than a mass-market one.
One vehicle we do know that GAC will display in Paris is the Everge. This compact electric SUV was unveiled as a concept at the Detroit Auto Show in January this year and sports a 71 kWh battery that offers up to 370 miles (595 km) of range. It remains to be seen whether or not the production model of this concept is the one that we’ll see in Paris and whether it’ll be sold in the United States, Europe, China, or all of them.
As it gears up for a launch in Europe, GAC has been looking for employees and recently completed a recruitment drive which attracted more than 700 applications from across Europe. Positions offers so far include those in vehicle engineering, process and technology, management, and marketing.
“GAC Motor is expanding fast, and we’re excited at the opportunities that we see for further growth in Europe,” a senior GAC executive said. “The GAC Motor brand is already present in 14 countries, and sales have increased by 22.7 percent in the first quarter of 2018. We are only able to achieve such remarkable results because of the excellent work of all of our employees.
“We believe that we will only be able to compete globally if we have a top-flight, global team, and after the U.S. and Japan, Europe represents the biggest pool of overseas talent.”
GAC hasn’t provided a specific date for when it will launch in Europe but more information will be released at the Paris Auto Show.
