After the massive success of the 675LT, McLaren decided to apply the ‘Longtail’ treatment to their 570S Coupe, which meant an elongated body, better aero, more lightweight materials and more power.
The car was unveiled only two months ago, which is why images of the 600LT driving in traffic are only now beginning to surface, these being the very first ones, courtesy of spotter Gsp.cars. The vehicle was seen driving in Tarragona, Spain.
The fact that it says ‘prototype vehicle’ on it doesn’t really come as a big shock, since we know there is a test track in Santa Olivia, located in the province of Tarragona – so the car probably came from there.
Seeing the McLaren 600LT in traffic is definitely a treat. Compared to “everyday” cars like a Nissan Juke or a Ford Focus (both seen in one of the images), the McLaren almost looks as if it’s from another world. It’s short, wide and low, and boasts a really menacing stance, certainly more so than the 570S Coupe it’s based on.
Compared to the latter, the 600LT weighs 96 kg (211 lbs) less, while putting down 600 PS (591 HP) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque. That’s a power-to-weight ratio of 481 PS/tonne.
Its silhouette has grown by 74 mm (2.91 inches) thanks to the extended front splitter, longer rear diffuser and the fixed rear wing, while the interior boasts super-lightweight carbon fiber seats like on the McLaren Senna, if you customize it that way.
